Development of a new AADIS model that simulates the spread and control of African swine fever (ASF) in Australian domestic pigs and feral pigs is progressing. An updated spatial dataset estimating feral pig distribution and abundance has been produced and integrated into the prototype model. Discussions are underway with the Australian Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, Biosecurity Queensland and Australian Pork Limited on modelling the production and marketing systems of the Australian pig industry. The project fuses the existing AADIS agent-based model of livestock disease spread with a new cellular automata-based model of wildlife disease spread.
